Role of one person
Everyone has his own specific mission in life. No person born in this world is meaningless. Every individual plays a role in human history, affecting others' lives, whether slightly or greatly.
Have you ever read 'The Man Who Planted Trees,' which was once introduced in our monthly magazine? In a dreary and desolate mountain area, one day the story's narrator meets a man who plants 100 acorns every day.
The years go by. When the narrator visits there again, the waste land has become a surprisingly beautiful and fertile field. Thanks to the one person who has planted acorns every day, whether people understand him or not, the barren area has been changed into a thick forest, into a fertile field; flowers grow and streams flow. This story tells us how one person's invisible effort can change the world.
Every single person influences the destiny of all mankind
Of the six billion people living in the world, one person may be considered to be of no value or importance. But actually, each single individual significantly influences many other people's lives.
The book of Romans describes that just as through one man death came upon all, so through one man life came to all.
Ro 5:17-19 For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God's abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ. Consequently, just as the result of one trespass was condemnation for all men, so also the result of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life for all men. For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.
Through one man, Adam, death came to all men, and through one man, Jesus, all came to life. Observe the antithesis between the former and the latter; one man's disobedience brought sin and death, and one man's obedience brought forgiveness and life.
Through one man, all die, and through one man all live. As death originated with one man, so life began with one person. The destiny of all mankind was controlled by one man. Thus, one person's role or influence is very important.
It is the same with the gospel. Unless one of the 144,000 carries out his mission, the great work of the gospel cannot be accomplished. Each individual's role is so important.
The mission of watchman is to give warning to the world
Each and every one of us has a great mission that influences all mankind. Any role for each of us must not be considered small or unimportant. Every single one of us ought to perform our role in preaching the gospel to the ends of the earth. Even through one person's role, a barren place will be changed into a fruitful soil for the gospel and sooner will the eternal heaven come.
Eze 3:16-19 ... the word of the LORD came to me: "Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me. ..."
The mission of a prophet is to preach God's word. He is a watchman who blows the trumpet to warn people, so they can prepare against the coming disasters. God has called each of us to be a watchman, a prophet of the gospel. Many people's lives depend on whether or not a watchman carries out his role by warning them. Likewise, the salvation of countless souls depends on whether or not a prophet fulfills his duty by preaching God's word to them.
Mt 28:18-20 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. ..."
Christ's last words to the disciples are completely fulfilled in our times; for now we know the name of the Holy Spirit as well as the names of the Father and the Son. All of the prophecies have either been fulfilled or are in the process of being fulfilled right now.
At this point of time we have been called. The grace of salvation has been given to every one of us. But it is not enough just to receive the grace. Each of us, as a spiritual watchman, should blow the trumpet of the gospel loudly and lead all the peoples of the world to salvation.
A little one becomes a thousand in God's providence
Then, how can we make disciples of all nations and teach them to obey everything Christ has commanded?
We have life. The life God has given us has infinite power to save not only our own souls but also many other souls. Jesus said that when the seed of God's word was sown on good soil, it produced fruit-a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown (Mt 13:3-9; 1 Pe 1:23-25). When the seed of God's word is planted in the good soil of our heart, it takes root within us and grows to bear the fruit of life abundantly.
God has given us life. If each of us leads one person to God every year, how many souls can we each save for ten years? 10 persons? No, 1024 people can be saved.
When each one of us enlightens one person, he will lead another to enlightenment. One year later, there will be two enlightened persons. Each of them leads one person, and after two years the number of enlightened persons will be four. Thus, they will increase in number: 8 after three years, 16 after four years, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, and 1024 after 10 years.
If one enlightened person leads one man to full spiritual awakening every year, more than ten thousand people can be saved for ten years. This is the providence of God, isn't it? For He makes a little one become a thousand, and a small one a strong nation.
Now, we need to examine ourselves to see if we have faithfully tried to bear such beautiful fruit of enlightenment every moment since we were called by God. If we each have awakened one soul at least with the Father and Mother's words every year for ten years, 1024 enlightened souls should have been together with each of us by now.
God has called us to be a watchman, a minister of the gospel. If we have born no fruit unto God for many years, we are not worthy of His call. Let's have time to reflect and ask ourselves whether or not we've diligently taught God's word to people, just as God commanded us: "Give them warning from me."
Haven't you awakened enough souls to be worthy of God's call yet? Don't worry. You can start now. Are you ready to faithfully carry out your role as a watchman? First, set a goal to fully awaken one person at least every year. God will help you to bear fruit-a hundredfold or even a thousandfold.
Gospel proclamation can be performed by all, regardless of age or circumstances
As a watchman over all peoples of the world, each of us should have a positive mental attitude, "Send me!" instead of the thought, "There's going to be someone else in my stead." The role of one single person is really important.
Haven't any of you given up your role as a watchman because of your age or circumstances? The proclamation of the gospel can be performed by all, regardless of age or circumstances. Moses was 80 years old when he went to Pharaoh to deliver God's message to him. He was called to do God's will at the age of 80 and continued his ministry of preaching God's words to his people for forty years. Considering the case of Moses, we are so young and full of energy now.
All brothers and sisters in Zion are God's appointed watchmen who are to give warning to the world. God entrusted a prophetic mission to Moses at the age of 80. However, each of us has been called to the mission at a younger age. Every one of us is young and vigorous enough to take the lead in awakening the whole world. God has already given us wisdom to proclaim His word.
Let's start right now. Let's preach at least one of God's teachings to people around us who know neither Father and Mother nor Zion where God dwells. The Bible says that faith comes from hearing the message. When we preach God's word to them, they will have faith and lead many to salvation. We shall awaken the world and lead them to God, by telling them the good news of the heavenly Father and Mother and brothers and sisters.
One Christ-like person can save many souls
'I am so feeble and weak. How can I do such a great work?' Don't think so. Every single one of us can do it. Jesus told us to take up our cross and follow Him, because we can do that.
The salvation or destruction of many souls around us depends on each and every one of us. Remembering this, we shall faithfully follow the example of Christ who became obedient even unto death.
Php 2:5-11 Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death-even death on a cross! ...
The life of Christ is the best example for us who strive to save all mankind. The Bible teaches us that through the obedience of the one man, Christ, the way to heaven has been opened, so that all mankind can be saved from death and enter the eternal kingdom.
We are to obey all the teachings of Christ. By doing little things, we can accomplish a great mission and glorify God with much good fruit. Now, we need to ask ourselves whether we crucify all our own thoughts and have the same attitude as Christ Jesus, or whether we are still stubborn and proud so that Christ cannot live within us. If we each humble ourselves as Jesus did, being obedient even unto death, we will accomplish the mission of saving all mankind.
Let's lead one person to God. Starting with one person, let's make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything Christ has commanded us. Through such an obedient life, let's proclaim the good news of salvation to all the people of the world who have not received salvation yet, telling them the glad news that our heavenly Father came to this earth and our heavenly Mother is now with us in flesh.
A kernel of wheat bears much fruit if it dies
If we still live to ourselves, not giving ourselves fully in obedience to God's word, we can't bring forth fruit, just as a kernel of wheat cannot bear fruit unless it dies.
As a grain of wheat must die in order to produce abundant fruit, so must we die to ourselves to bear much fruit, enduring many things. Life is contained in a seed, but it cannot reproduce unless the seed dies. This is God's providence.
Jer 20:7-13 O LORD, you deceived me, and I was deceived; you overpowered me and prevailed. I am ridiculed all day long; everyone mocks me. Whenever I speak, I cry out proclaiming violence and destruction. So the word of the LORD has brought me insult and reproach all day long. But if I say, "I will not mention him or speak any more in his name," his word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot. ...
In Jeremiah 20, we can see a prophet lamenting, saying, "Why did I ever come out of the womb to see trouble and sorrow, so that my days have been spent in shame?" When the prophet Jeremiah proclaimed God's word, he was ridiculed and persecuted, not being welcomed by people.
So he decided not to preach, then the message was like a fire in his bones that he couldn't endure it. 'If I do not preach God's message to them, they will not escape the coming hardships and destruction. Am I right with God if I keep silent for fear of ridicule?'
Such thoughts were deep in Jeremiah's heart, so he could not stand keeping God's word inside. This is the mental attitude of a true prophet. For the greatest joy of the prophet is in enlightening the world by preaching God's word.
We may suffer persecution and ridicule when we preach the gospel to enlighten the world, just as did Jeremiah. The way of the gospel is narrow and rough. While some continue the race, some give it up. But we must run the race with patience until we finish it, working harder so that we may receive a much greater reward from God.
One person's role has an influence on him and many others as well. Remember that God ordered the servant, who just kept the one talent, to be cast out into the darkness. Like Christ sacrificed Himself as a kernel of wheat, each of us should crucify our sinful desires and put on the new self in Christ as a seed of life that bears abundant fruit.
God has given a great mission to us. Our mission is to serve as a watchman to warn the people, whether they listen or fail to listen. If each of us wholeheartedly awakens one person, we will soon be able to enlighten all people on earth, won't we?
Many peoples of the world thirst for the water of life. Remembering how important one person's role is, let's go and make disciples of all nations, teaching them to obey everything Christ has commanded us. By doing that, we shall lead many souls to righteousness.
