While living in the world, we have some special days such as our birthdays, admission and graduation days, wedding anniversaries, etc. These days have particular meanings to members of a family. When you have your own special day, all the other members of your family get excited at the thought of what gift they should prepare for you.

Then, what should we give to God the Father and God the Mother—our spiritual Parents—when we go back to heaven, our eternal home? What is most pleasing to God? As God’s children, we have only received from God; life, love and everything else. From now on, we need to have faith mature enough to think about what we should give to God—how we can please Him—and put it into practice.

What pleases God

Parents are pleased with everything about their children. When you prepare a holiday or birthday gift for your parents, you will think carefully about what would please them the most. The Bible also teaches God’s children to find out what pleases God.

Eph 5:6–11 . . . and find out what pleases the Lord. Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.

Mic 6:6–8 With what shall I come before the LORD and bow down before the exalted God? Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old? Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousand rivers of oil? . . . He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

If we truly love God, we must think about what we can do to please God. The prophet Micah tells us that God is not pleased with thousands of rams or with ten thousand rivers of oil, but He is most pleased when we act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with Him.

Can we please God with treasures like gold and silver, which people in the world put value on? Such things cannot please God. The Earth looks so big to us who are living on it. Viewed from space, however, our planet Earth is just a tiny speck, which is hardly visible. Even if we give God something very precious on this earth, it is nothing to God who created the whole universe and governs it.

God is pleased when we walk humbly with Him. This is what God wants from us more than anything else. Let’s find out the way to walk with God and to participate in His work, through the Bible.

The reason God has come to this earth

Jesus said, “My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I, too, am working” (Jn 5:17). Let us figure out what God devoted Himself to when He came to this earth, so we can walk with God and please Him.

Lk 19:10 “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.”

Mt 9:13 “. . . For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Jesus Himself said He came to this earth as a man in order to seek and to save the lost, and also said He came to call sinners. Considering the words of Jesus, we can see that “what was lost” in Luke 19 refers to sinners who have been cast down to this earth as a result of sinning against God in heaven. God came down to this earth in order to save His children who were lost from heaven because of sin.

Lk 15:7 “I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.”

These words of Jesus clearly show us what pleases God the most. Jesus said, “There will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.” So, we must please God by leading sinners to repentance. God is most pleased when His children, who have been thrown down to this earth, being tempted by the morning star—son of the dawn, repent again and come back home. And there is nothing more beautiful in God’s eyes than His children who repent and walk humbly with Him.

Preaching, the way for sinners to achieve repentance

To please God, we ourselves must repent of our sins first. Then we need to make efforts to lead other sinners to repentance. Let’s find out what we should do to help them repent.

Ro 10:12–18 . . . the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” But not all the Israelites accepted the good news. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our message?” Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ. But I ask: Did they not hear? Of course they did: “Their voice has gone out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.”

In order for sinners from heaven to repent, there must be someone proclaiming God’s sacrifice and teaching them the Bible as well. How can they hear without someone preaching to them, and how can they believe in what they have not heard? We must proclaim God’s love and sacrifice to all people in the world and also let them know about life in the spiritual world, which they have forgotten about while living earthly lives.

Now the movement to preach the gospel to seven billion people is being carried out throughout the world, just as the Bible says: “Their voice has gone out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.” God will be even more pleased when the number of people who realize they are fallen angels from heaven and repent before God sincerely keeps increasing from one to two, from two to ten.

Mk 1:35–39 Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. Simon and his companions went to look for him, and when they found him, they exclaimed: “Everyone is looking for you!” Jesus replied, “Let us go somewhere else—to the nearby villages—so I can preach there also. That is why I have come.” So he traveled throughout Galilee, preaching in their synagogues . . .

Jesus clearly said He came to this earth to preach. Through preaching, God fulfilled His goal of seeking and saving the lost. As God’s children, we should join God in His work, keeping in mind that God is most pleased when we walk humbly with Him and follow Him.

Give them warning from God

There was a secret inspector system during the Joseon Dynasty. Secret royal inspectors were undercover officials appointed by the king to secretly investigate the conduct of local government officials—how they treated the people. Being the eyes and ears of the king, the secret inspectors disguised themselves in shabby clothes to hide their identity, but actually they had the power to dismiss local officials and to seal up the government warehouses.

Likewise, God has granted the great power of attorney to those who walk with Him—the authority to speak and act on His behalf.

Eze 3:16–20 . . . the word of the LORD came to me: “Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me. When I say to a wicked man, ‘You will surely die,’ and you do not warn him or speak out to dissuade him from his evil ways in order to save his life, that wicked man will die for his sin, and I will hold you accountable for his blood. But if you do warn the wicked man and he does not turn from his wickedness or from his evil ways, he will die for his sin; but you will have saved yourself. Again, when a righteous man turns from his righteousness and does evil, and I put a stumbling block before him, he will die. Since you did not warn him, he will die for his sin. The righteous things he did will not be remembered, and I will hold you accountable for his blood.”

God has made us watchmen of the truth, and has entrusted us with the glorious mission of giving the world warning from Him. When we preach God’s word, those who receive it and turn away from sin will have life, but those who do not repent or turn back will end up losing the opportunity to be saved. In other words, God has allowed us to exercise His authority on His behalf when we preach the gospel. That’s why the Bible says that the mission of preaching the gospel is not entrusted to everyone, but only to those approved by God (1 Th 2:4).

Eze 33:7–9 “Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me. When I say to the wicked, ‘O wicked man, you will surely die,’ and you do not speak out to dissuade him from his ways, that wicked man will die for his sin, and I will hold you accountable for his blood. But if you do warn the wicked man to turn from his ways and he does not do so, he will die for his sin, but you will have saved yourself.”

God said, “Give them warning from me.” So, preaching is not just an act of sharing our knowledge of the Bible with others, but it is the work of speaking on God’s behalf, which cannot be done by our own knowledge or ability. We must keep this in mind. Preaching is conveying the good news that God takes His children, who have been expelled from heaven, back to the kingdom of heaven. Whenever we preach God’s word on His behalf, we stand at a very important crossroad that determines whether or not we can lead a soul to the path of life.

This great task of saving mankind has been entrusted to us. God has commanded us to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything He has commanded us (Mt 28:19–20). Is there a church that keeps the Sabbath and the Passover and baptizes people in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, according to God’s command? Eventually, the great work of preaching is the mission which must be fulfilled by the Church of God that teaches and obeys every command of Christ.

Like the secret royal inspectors who executed the special order of the king, we are carrying out the great mission of saving mortal human beings, with our God-given authority, according to God’s command. Let us take pride in the mission of preaching on God’s behalf and make all our efforts to proclaim the gospel to the ends of the earth, so that many souls will repent and come back to God.

Blessings for gospel preachers

Sometimes we suffer hardship and persecution while preaching the gospel. However, God has commanded us to give sinners warning from Him to train us to be a royal priesthood in heaven, not just to make us suffer.

2 Ti 4:1–18 In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction . . . But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry. For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time has come for my departure. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing . . . But the Lord stood at my side and gave me strength, so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and all the Gentiles might hear it.

The Apostle Paul instructed us to be ready at all times to preach the Word and do the work of an evangelist. Paul himself also lived an evangelistic life; he devoted his whole life to giving the world warning from God. That’s why he could confidently say that there was in store for him the crown of righteousness.

It is not always easy to preach the gospel. In order to lead one soul to repentance, we need to humble ourselves and suffer all kinds of hardships as well. Through such hardships, however, we come to realize more deeply the sacrifice and love of Heavenly Father and Mother who have saved us, and our faith also becomes refined and perfect. So, we must not forget that we receive greater blessings when we suffer.

We have been given great authority to speak and act on God’s behalf. But what if we do not fully exercise the authority given to us? It is a very regrettable thing. No matter how good something is, it is useless when its due time is over. In the parable of the ten virgins, the five foolish ones were not ready and they tried to get oil when they heard the call to come out to meet the bridegroom, but the door was ultimately shut so they could not enter the wedding banquet (Ecc 3:1; Mt 25:1–13). If we belatedly realize the importance of our gospel mission and try to carry it out after God’s word is preached to the whole world and God’s children are all found, what will be the use of it?

The crown of righteousness and a royal priesthood have been reserved for those who perform the duties of the gospel ministry. Before we go back to the eternal kingdom of heaven, let us please God by leading even more souls to repentance; let’s work hard when we are given the opportunity. The Bible clearly shows that God is most pleased when His children participate humbly in His work of the gospel. I would like to ask all of you, brothers and sisters in Zion, to bring great joy to Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother by giving the world warning from Them and leading many souls to repentance, so you can all enter the kingdom of heaven together.
