Time flows ceaselessly when we are sleeping, working, taking a break, and eating; it passes no matter what we are doing. Since we cannot see time flowing by, we need devices that have been invented to measure the passing of time. They are clocks and watches.

It is the same spiritually. We are living in the visible, physical world, so we cannot see or feel the things of the spiritual world. Just like a clock or watch that has been invented to measure the flow of time, the Bible is God’s device to show us the spiritual world which we cannot perceive. Only through the Bible can we correctly discern all the things of the spiritual world; we are able to distinguish between those who will enter the kingdom of heaven and those who will not enter it and between the work of God and the work of Satan. Now let’s take time to find out through the Bible what the spiritual meaning of light and darkness is and what kind of people are the true people of God.

Those who believe in God who has come in the flesh

The Bible tells us what kind of people will be saved and what kind of people will not be saved, as follows:

Jn 3:16–18 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.”

Jesus is our Savior who has come to this earth in the flesh as the Son of God. Whoever does not receive Him stands condemned already. This means that people are already judged on this earth according to whether or not they believe in God who has come in the flesh, even before they stand in front of the judgment seat of God in heaven to be judged on whether they are right or wrong.

The Bible clearly shows that those who believe in God who has come to this earth in the flesh will be saved, while those who do not believe will be condemned. From this we can see that our faith in God is a significant factor directly related to our salvation.

What kind of being is God who has come to this earth in the flesh, that the Bible says whoever does not believe in Him is already judged? Let’s find out the answer through the meaning of light described in the Bible.

Jn 3:19–21 “This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God.”

The Bible tells us that everyone who does evil will not come into the light. The reason they love darkness instead of light and hate the light is because they are afraid that their evil deeds will be exposed by the light.

According to a research report, the crime rate in a region with poor public security dropped by half as the levels of brightness in street lighting doubled. This case plainly shows that crimes are more likely to occur in dark places. It is the same spiritually. Just as crimes are rampant in the dark, lightless places, evildoers are prevalent in the dark; they hate the light and refuse to come close to it. This is one of the characteristics of those who practice evil.

God is light

The Bible testifies that God is the light.

1 Jn 1:5 This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.

God, who had created all things in the beginning, came as the true light that shines on everyone. He became flesh and made His dwelling among us, and the world did not recognize Him and His own people did not receive Him. However, Jesus was God—the light (Jn 1:1–14).

Jn 12:46–48 “I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness. As for the person who hears my words but does not keep them, I do not judge him. For I did not come to judge the world, but to save it. There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; that very word which I spoke will condemn him at the last day.”

God has come to this earth in the flesh as the light, so that those who believe in Him will not abide in darkness. However, the people who belong to the darkness refuse to come to God. 2,000 years ago, some people were willing to come to Jesus who came as the light, while others refused to come to Him and rejected the good news of the kingdom of heaven Jesus preached; there were even those who cried out, “Crucify him.” From a biblical point of view, they are all evildoers who reject the light.

Since God is light, Satan the devil is darkness—the opposite of light. Those who reject God belong to the forces of darkness, and they will never escape God’s judgment.

The Passover of the new covenant, the truth that leads us to the light

On the contrary, those who follow the truth are to come into the light (Jn 3:21). What is the law of truth leading us to the light, which God has given only to those who will go to heaven?

Heb 5:6–10 And he says in another place, “You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.” . . . Although he was a son, he learned obedience from what he suffered and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him and was designated by God to be high priest in the order of Melchizedek.

The Bible says that Jesus, who came as the light, is the High Priest in the order of Melchizedek. Let’s find out more about the order of Melchizedek.

Ge 14:17–20 After Abram returned from defeating Kedorlaomer and the kings allied with him, the king of Sodom came out to meet him in the Valley of Shaveh (that is, the King’s Valley). Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. He was priest of God Most High, and he blessed Abram, saying, “Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth. And blessed be God Most High, who delivered your enemies into your hand.” Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything.

When Abraham returned home after winning a battle, Melchizedek brought out bread and wine and blessed him. Melchizedek was a priest of God Most High. The priests in the Old Testament times sacrificed animals to God by shedding their blood. However, Melchizedek used bread and wine to bless Abraham.

Let’s see how the sacrifice of bread and wine offered by Melchizedek was fulfilled in the New Testament times, through the work of Jesus who is the High Priest in the order of Melchizedek.

Mt 26:17–19, 26–28 On the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Where do you want us to make preparations for you to eat the Passover?” He replied, “Go into the city to a certain man and tell him, ‘The Teacher says: My appointed time is near. I am going to celebrate the Passover with my disciples at your house.’ ” So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them and prepared the Passover . . . While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.” Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.”

Just as Melchizedek bestowed a blessing on Abraham through bread and wine, Jesus has given us spiritual blessings through the bread and wine of the Passover. Jesus said, “Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life” (Jn 6:54). So, Jesus grants us the blessing of eternal life through the Passover bread and wine which symbolize His flesh and blood.

The same scene is also recorded in the Gospel of Luke, where Jesus calls the Passover the “new covenant.”

Lk 22:7–9, 19–20 Then came the day of Unleavened Bread on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed. Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and make preparations for us to eat the Passover.” . . . And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.”

Jesus established regulations for the sacrifice of the new covenant through the bread and wine of the New Covenant Passover according to the order of Melchizedek. The Passover of the new covenant is the core of the truth and the way to the light. The Bible clearly mentions Christ who is the light as well as the truth of the new covenant that leads us to the light.

Blessings for those who abide in the light

Christ has come to this earth as the Spirit and the Bride to restore the truth of the new covenant in these last days. As a result, Satan’s lawlessness and corruption are being completely exposed. Now the whole world knows that worshiping the cross is not a teaching of God and that Sunday worship and Christmas are vestiges of the sun god worship.

God, who came to this earth as the light, performed His duty as the High Priest in the order of Melchizedek. Whose sacrifice did God accept—Cain’s or Abel’s? Which sacrifice would please God—the sacrifice offered in accordance with regulations for the worship of the sun god or the sacrifice according to the order of Melchizedek? Without a doubt, God would accept the sacrifice offered in the order of Melchizedek. To let us know this fact, God has come to this earth.

Those who belong to the darkness try to deny the truth and refuse to come into the light, but those who love the truth willingly come to the light. Let’s find out what blessings God gives to those who always live in the light by obeying the truth of the new covenant.

Jer 31:31–34 “The time is coming,” declares the LORD, “when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah . . . This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time,” declares the LORD. “I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest,” declares the LORD. “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”

God has said He will be the God of those who have His law written on their hearts and they will be His people. Doesn’t this mean that God, who is light, will be their light and they will be God’s people who dwell in the light? God has also promised He will forgive the wickedness of those who abide in the new covenant and will remember their sins no more. By this God has acknowledged that those who live in the new covenant are the ones who abide in the light and will be saved. Additionally, He has clarified that the new covenant is an unchangeable promise, just as it is an immutable law of His own appointment that the sun shines by day and the moon and stars shine by night (Jer 31:35–36).

Come to the light

God, who is light, has promised He will come to this earth a second time to save us. He has also prophesied that when He comes again, He will not be alone but the Spirit and the Bride will appear together.

Rev 22:17 The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life.

Those who come to the Spirit and the Bride in obedience to Their call to “come” are the children of light who are willing to come to God, aren’t they? So, we can see that those who receive God the Father and God the Mother who have come as the Spirit and the Bride in this age are God’s holy people who have the promise of salvation. On the contrary, those who do not come to the Spirit and the Bride prove themselves to be evildoers. Those who belong to the darkness hate the light. Naturally, they hate and reject the truth about God the Father and God the Mother who are the light.

There are so many dark places where the light of truth has not yet shone. Satan blinds the eyes, ears, and minds of many people with darkness. In total darkness we cannot see what lies before us—whether it is a path or a cliff. When the light shines in the darkness, then we can see the path ahead and go forward.

Now darkness is covering the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples. God tells us, “Arise, shine!” Let us obey God’s word and display the glory of God by shining the light of Jerusalem brightly all over the world as the “children of light” (Isa 60:1–22). Only the light can defeat the darkness. If we shine the light of Jerusalem’s glory, our lost brothers and sisters will surely see the light of Jerusalem and come back to Mother’s arms. I would like to ask all of you, God’s children, to fully carry out the mission of the prophets by shining the light in this dark world.
