Dedication Service for the Church of God in Yangcheon, Seoul

On September 10 when the autumn rain fell, the dedication service for the Church of God in Yangcheon, Seoul, was held along with the Third-day service. The members, who worked for the construction of the temple during the scorching summer, were full of emotion and attended the dedication service.

Mother was pleased to have the dedication service for the Yangcheon Church, which the members had been looking forward to for a long time, and prayed that the church would spread the light of love to its neighbors in the unity of brothers and sisters. She also enlightened the members on the hope for heaven where there is no sorrow and no pain, and encouraged them with the words, “Let’s always give thanks to Father who sacrificed Himself to restore the kingdom of heaven that we had lost due to our sins, and take heart with the hope for our future in the kingdom of heaven full of eternal joy.”

General Pastor Kim Joo-cheol preached about the duties of heavenly citizens who have received the promise of entering the kingdom of heaven, under the title, “Our citizenship is in heaven.” The citizens of heaven are those who keep the law of God and look forward to heaven (Mt 7:21; Heb 11:13-16). He urged the members, saying, “Let’s check ourselves every day whether or not we live in accordance with the will of God, and look forward to the greater future, the kingdom of heaven, instead of clinging to the momentary things though we do our best while living in this world.” He also hoped that the Yangcheon Church would lead many souls to the love of God by sharing, serving and enduring as the citizens of heaven (Php 3:17-21; Jn 18:33-36; Col 3:1-10).

The Yangcheon Church is a five story building with one underground level. It has a main worship hall with 350 seats, a fellowship room, education rooms and so on. As the church is located in a residential area in a major business district, people in its neighborhood show interest in the church. The members said that they would also hold various volunteer activities like a campaign for keeping traffic regulations and basic order, and an environmental cleanup campaign, saying, “Of course we will preach hard, but we think our good words and deeds will also be ‘preaching.’ We have tremendous responsibilities to display the glory of God.”
